Be Inspired from Your First Time on the Mat

If you’re like a lot of people, you might feel like you’re just drifting along. Unfortunately, we live in a world that’s become resigned, cynical and numb. But this doesn’t have to be your normal. Baptiste Yoga exists to disrupt the drift. Join our yoga home and be prepared to come alive.

What You Can Expect

Baptiste power vinyasa yoga isn’t like other yoga. It combines asana (the physical poses), meditation and self-inquiry in an empowering practice that encourages students to reclaim their full potential on and off the mat.

Founded by Baron Baptiste, Baptiste Yoga is a series of poses specifically designed to peel back the layers, renew your vitality and get you unstuck so that you’re open to new possibilities in body, heart and mind.

Getting Started

 

Arrive Early

All students are encouraged to arrive with enough time to get comfortable before class begins. We recommend 10 minutes, especially for new students. This gives us the opportunity to meet you, have you complete a consent form and show you around the studio. To fully take advantage of all the practice has to offer, we ask that you leave your cell phone silenced and in our storage area.

Wear Comfortable Clothes

You don’t have to buy a new wardrobe for yoga. Just wear stretchy clothing that keeps you dry. Think wicking fabrics, not cotton. Also, try to stay away from baggy clothes as they restrict movement. If you’re thinking of attending a power yoga class, the room will be heated to 90 degrees, so dress accordingly.

Drink Water

Come to class well hydrated, drink plenty of water during class and replenish afterwards. Your body will thank you! The more you sweat and rehydrate, the better you’ll feel in the long run. If you forget your water, don’t worry. We have cold bottled water available for purchase for $2.

Listen to Your Body

Always pace yourself. Practicing yoga is a lifelong endeavor and learning the basics is more important than keeping up with more experienced students. Our instructors will offer modifications. If you need them, take them! In increments, you’ll build the stamina and flexibility to keep pushing your edge further and further. Also, be sure to notify your yoga teacher if you’re injured or pregnant.

Practice, Practice, Practice

Like anything in life, the more you practice the better you’ll feel. We’ll meet you where you are, as you are, and support you in getting you where you want to go. Commit to practicing three times a week, and you’ll build confidence, awaken passion and get the results you desire. Practice is your progress.

Have Fun

It wouldn’t be a Baptiste Yoga class unless we were having fun and getting a little silly. Time on your mat is time for you. It’s not supposed to create stress. It’s supposed to relieve it. Even if you get lost or a little tired, remember to remain in the moment and breathe into the discomfort. If you’re willing, yoga has something to teach you. Embrace it.

Be a “Yes” for Yourself

You WILL be transformed by this practice. You WILL become the best version of yourself for you, your family and your community. All you have to do is start!
